Key points
- Solid steel square bar in hot-rolled and cold-finished grades.
- A popular choice for fence, gate and railing pickets.
- Cut to length, bent and welded in our shop.
Square bar is solid steel with a square cross section. Its crisp edges make it a favorite for railing pickets, gates, fences and ornamental ironwork, and it is also machined into keys and wear parts. Iron Wei Steel Corp supplies square bar from our Jamaica, Queens warehouse.
We can cut square bar to picket length in quantity and weld it into finished railing or gate sections.
Squares we supply
- Hot-rolled square bar. General fabrication and ironwork, commonly ASTM A36.
- Cold-finished square bar. Accurate dimensions and smooth surfaces for machined parts and keys.
- Stainless square bar. For outdoor and decorative projects that need to resist rust.

Frequently asked questions
Can you make complete railings from square bar?
Yes. We fabricate and install railings in steel, stainless steel, aluminum and wrought iron. See our stairs and railings service.
Is square bar the same as square tube?
No. Square bar is solid, while square tube is hollow. Bar is heavier and stronger for its size; tube is lighter and more economical for frames.
